English: Yesterday a tall and proud tree – Today a shattered wreck Having been taking some additional photographs of the Candelabra Oak 1185031 a few days earlier I was surprised to find the track blocked today. Apparently it came down during gusty winds last night and the National Trust had only just discovered that it had fallen.

The Ridgeway long distance footpath, which is also used by mobility vehicles at this point, was completely blocked – see 1480179 and 1489479. While I have no picture showing the tree before it fell 1480173 was taken from the part of the Ridgeway covered by the tree's canopy. The National Trust closed the path 1485413 and brought the tree down to ground level 1485415. The branches were removed 1485418 and the Ridgeway reopened 1489482. Later a seat was cut in a fallen log. 1505001.
